Consultation on Health Profession Regulation

The BC government is exploring modernizing health profession regulation in the province. Last year the Honourable Adrian Dix, Minister of Health, launched an inquiry into the College of Dental Surgeons of BC (CDSBC). Mr. Harry Cayton conducted the inquiry and released a report that included recommendations to improve the CDSBC and possible approaches to modernize BC’s health profession regulatory framework. DC made sure to highlight important issues and opportunities related to health profession regulation in our written submission to the first public consultation process in June 2019.
In November, the BC government announced a steering committee with representatives from all three parties in the legislature who have worked together on a proposal to modernize the province’s health professions regulatory system. The steering committee sought out public input on their proposal. DC responded with a written submission as the professional association for dietitians.
